The Rue-Petillon military cemetery is a special cemetery gathering dead soldiers on different battlefields. It has many nationalities, including Australians and New Zealanders (ANZAC) and as many soldier routes that you can discover with a guide from the Museum of the Battle of Fromelles.
ANZAC Day, which is celebrated around 25 April each year, is a national day of remembrance for Australians and New Zealanders at home and around the world. ANZAC is the acronym formed from the first letters of the words Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. This day marks the anniversary of the first major military action by Australian and New Zealand soldiers during the First World War in the Gallipoli Peninsula on April 25, 1915.
(Go to the museum at 2:45 pm before going to the cemetery.)
