Das Studium der Cetaceen in der heutigen Zeit
Vortrag von Charlotte Bellot (Swiss Cetacean Society).
Wale und Delfine haben die Menschen schon immer fasziniert und unsere Beziehungen zu diesen mysteriösen Kreaturen haben sich im Laufe der Zeit ständig weiterentwickelt. Unter den verschiedenen Interaktionen ist die Interaktion zwischen Wissenschaftlern und Walen besonders stimulierend und eine ständige Herausforderung. Ein Wissenschaftler versucht, die Natur zu beobachten und zu verstehen, um sie bestmöglich schützen zu können. Aufgrund der Meeresumwelt ist das Studium von Walen jedoch mit vielen Schwierigkeiten verbunden: Über 80% des Lebens der Wale spielt sich unter der Wasseroberfläche ab und ist daher für uns nur schwer zugänglich. Glücklicherweise hat der technologische Fortschritt den heutigen Wissenschaftlern einen großen Durchbruch in der Meeresbiologie und insbesondere in der Cetologie ermöglicht, da ein revolutionäres neues Werkzeug entwickelt wurde. Es wird eine Zusammenfassung der neuesten Fortschritte in der Meeresbiologie präsentiert.

The study of cetaceans today
Lecture by Charlotte Bellot (Swiss Cetacean Society)
Cetaceans have always fascinated mankind and our relationship with these mysterious creatures has evolved over time. Among the various interactions, those that scientists have with cetaceans are particularly stimulating and represent a permanent challenge. Indeed, a scientist tries to observe Nature, to understand it in order to protect it as well as possible. But because of the marine environment, the study of cetaceans presents its share of difficulties: more than 80% of the life of cetaceans takes place under the surface of the water and is therefore difficult to access. Fortunately, technological advances have allowed scientists to make great strides in marine biology research and more specifically in Cetology thanks to the appearance of a new revolutionary tool. A synthesis of the latest advances in marine biology will be presented.

Les Cétacés ont toujours fasciné l'Homme et nos relations avec ces mystérieuses créatures n'ont eu de cesse d'évoluer au cours du temps. Parmi les diverses interactions, celles que les scientifiques entretiennent avec les Cétacés sont particulièrement stimulantes et représentent un défi permanent. En effet, un scientifique tente d'observer la Nature, de la comprendre afin de pouvoir la protéger au mieux. Mais du fait de l'environnement marin, l'étude des Cétacés présente son lot de difficultés: plus de 80% de la vie des Cétacés se passe sous la surface de l'eau et nous est par conséquent difficile d'accès. Heureusement, les progrès technologiques ont permis aux scientifiques actuels de connaître une grande avancée dans les recherches en biologie marine et plus spécifiquement en Cétologie grâce à l'apparition d'un nouvel outil révolutionnaire. Une synthèse des dernières avancées en biologie marine sera présentée.
