Molinierrose saumon exhibition "we are all liars"
During the spring-summer of 2023, the Frac MÉCA is devoting a major exhibition to Pierre Molinier (1900-1976), which embraces all the facets of his work, which has been controversial for a long time but is incredibly current. It is as much about exploring his sources of inspiration, revealing archives and unpublished testimonies as it is about highlighting contemporary artistic filiations and transgenerational affinities.
With this event, the Frac MÉCA pays homage to a "local boy" born with the 20th century, in 1900 in Agen. It took Pierre Molinier a little over 50 years to break definitively with the moral and aesthetic values of the academy and thus proudly pass to the other side. Often considered marginal, locked away in the aesthetic wardrobes of art history, Molinier is today recognised as an emblematic figure of art in France and abroad.
This exhibition celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Frac MÉCA which, since its creation in 1982, has begun its collection by acquiring some thirty works by this artist.
Exhibition reserved for adults and forbidden to under 18s.
