Wie unterscheidet sich der Mensch vom Tier? Ist es die Kultur, die Sprache oder der Gebrauch von Werkzeugen? Sind die von Tieren geteilten Emotionen mit denen des Menschen vergleichbar? Thibaud Grubers Forschung über das Verhalten von Schimpansen in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung zeigt die kognitiven und sozialen Fähigkeiten der Tiere auf. Seine Arbeit befasst sich nicht nur mit den Unterschieden zwischen der menschlichen und der Schimpansenkultur, sondern auch mit den Lern- und Vererbungsprozessen, die dem Tierreich eigen sind.

His work questions not only the differences between human and chimpanzee culture, but also the learning and transmission processes specific to the animal kingdom.
