MONET À VÉTHEUIL: THE SEASONS OF A LIFETIME
In spring 2024, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille joined forces with the Musée d'Orsay to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Impressionism around Claude Monet, the founding figure of this movement.

The Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille has two paintings by Claude Monet representing the village of Vétheuil, both from the Masson donation dating from the 1970s: La Débâcle, painted in the first weeks of 1880 and Vétheuil, in the morning, made twenty years later. Vétheuil occupies a singular place in the life and work of Monet. By bringing the works of the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille closer to four prestigious loans from the Musée d'Orsay on the same subject, this exhibition will evoke both the rhythm of the seasons and two stylistic periods of the artist. This exceptional set of 6 works gathered for the first time in Lille will show the public two significant moments in the life of Claude Monet, one difficult and the other more prosperous.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an immersive experience in the heart of the museum’s Atrium that will offer the opportunity for a breath and prolong the visit experience with a guided meditation to explore, in full awareness, a landscape of the collections of the Palais des Beaux-Arts.

Le Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille possède deux toiles de Claude Monet représentant le village de Vétheuil, issues toutes deux de la donation Masson datant des années 1970 : La Débâcle, peinte dans les premières semaines de 1880 et Vétheuil, le matin, réalisée vingt ans plus tard. Vétheuil occupe une place singulière dans la vie et l’œuvre de Monet. En rapprochant les œuvres du Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille de quatre prêts prestigieux du musée d’Orsay sur le même sujet, cette exposition permettra d’évoquer à la fois le rythme des saisons et deux périodes stylistiques de l’artiste. Cet ensemble exceptionnel de 6 œuvres rassemblées pour la première fois à Lille montrera ainsi au public deux moments marquants de la vie de Claude Monet, l’un difficile et l’autre plus prospère.
L’exposition sera accompagnée par une expérience immersive au cœur de l’Atrium du musée qui offrira l’opportunité d’une respiration et prolongera l’expérience de visite par une méditation guidée permettant d’explorer, en pleine conscience, un paysage des collections du Palais des Beaux-Arts.

Het Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille heeft twee schilderijen van Claude Monet die het dorp Vétheuil vertegenwoordigen, beide afkomstig uit de Masson donatie uit de jaren 1970: La débâcle, geschilderd in de eerste weken van 1880 en Vétheuil, in de ochtend, gemaakt twintig jaar later. Vétheuil neemt een bijzondere plaats in in het leven en werk van Monet. Door de werken van het Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille dichter bij vier prestigieuze leningen van het Musée d'Orsay over hetzelfde onderwerp te brengen, zal deze tentoonstelling zowel het ritme van de seizoenen als twee stilistische periodes van de kunstenaar oproepen. Deze uitzonderlijke set van 6 werken, die voor het eerst in Lille zijn verzameld, zal het publiek twee belangrijke momenten in het leven van Claude Monet laten zien, een moeilijke en een meer welvarende.
De tentoonstelling wordt begeleid door een meeslepende ervaring in het hart van het Atrium van het museum, die de gelegenheid biedt om adem te halen en het bezoek te verlengen met een begeleide meditatie om, in het volle bewustzijn, een landschap van de collecties van het Palais des Beaux-Arts. te verkennen
