The Fort du Vert Galant in Wambrechies The Fort du Vert Galant is one of the last vestiges of the forts of General Séré de Rivières called «single-crested» built after the war of 1870. It was built to protect Lille from a possible new Prussian invasion and its German allies. A centenary story, marked by the immediate obsolescence of this type of building, but also and especially the blood of the people who were executed there during the Second World War.
Practical information:
- Rates: 5 € adult/ 2 € child (5 to 15 years), payment (check or cash) only at the reception of the tourist office before the visit at opening hours: from Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 14h to 17:30, Saturday from 10h to 12h30 and Sunday (May-September) from 2pm to 6pm.
- Appointment: the meeting point will be given once the reservation is confirmed.

- Without prior registration, the guide will not be able to integrate you into the group. Payment on site not accepted.*

Le Fort du Vert Galant à Wambrechies
Le fort du Vert Galant est l’un des derniers vestiges des forts du Général Séré de Rivières dits « à crête unique » bâtis au lendemain de la guerre de 1870. Il fut construit afin de protéger Lille d’une éventuelle nouvelle invasion prussienne et de ses alliés allemands. Une histoire centenaire, marquée du sceau de l’immédiate obsolescence de ce type d’édifice, mais aussi et surtout du sang des personnes qui y furent exécutées lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Informations pratiques :
- Tarifs : 5€ adulte / 2€ enfant (5 à 15 ans), paiement (chèque ou espèces) uniquement à l’accueil de l’office de tourisme en amont de la visite aux horaires d’ouverture : du mardi au vendredi de 9h30 à 12h30 et de 14h à 17h30, le samedi de 10h à 12h30 et le dimanche (mai-septembre) de 14h à 18h.
- RDV : le point de rendez-vous sera donné une fois la réservation confirmée.

Het Fort du Vert Galant in Wambrechies Het Fort du Vert Galant is een van de laatste overblijfselen van de forten van generaal Séré de Rivières genaamd «single-crested» gebouwd na de oorlog van 1870. Het werd gebouwd om Lille te beschermen tegen een mogelijke nieuwe Pruisische invasie en zijn Duitse bondgenoten. Een honderdjarig verhaal, gekenmerkt door de onmiddellijke veroudering van dit soort gebouwen, maar ook en vooral het bloed van de mensen die daar tijdens de tweede Wereldoorlog zijn geëxecuteerd.
Praktische informatie:
- Prijzen: 5 € volwassene/ 2 € kind (5 tot 15 jaar), betaling (cheque of contant) alleen bij de receptie van het VVV-kantoor voor het bezoek op openingstijden: van dinsdag t/m vrijdag van 9.30 tot 12.30 uur en van 14.00 tot 30 uur, zaterdag van 10.00 tot 12.30 uur en zondag (mei-september) van 14.00 tot 18.00 uur.
- Afspraak: Het ontmoetingspunt wordt gegeven zodra de reservering is bevestigd.
