In this presentation, our guest Christophe Randin, a specialist in plant biogeography, will first give us an overview of the reactions of subalpine forests and alpine vegetation to climate change in the Alps. He will then present the results of projections for the 21st century suggesting a rise in altitude of the forest limit and the threat of local extinction of Alpine species. He will conclude by showing the monitoring methods that can be used to better understand and predict the evolution of vegetation in the Alps.

Au cours de cette présentation, notre invité Christophe Randin, spécialiste de la biogéographie végétale, nous fournira tout d'abord une synthèse des réactions des forêts subalpines et de la végétation alpine face au changement climatique dans les Alpes. Il présentera ensuite les résultats de projections pour le 21e siècle suggèrant une montée en altitude de la limite de la forêt et la menace d'extinction locale des espèces alpines. Il conclura enfin en montrant les méthodes de monitoring utiles pour mieux comprendre et prédire l’évolution de la végétation dans les Alpes.
