Afghanistan, 2023. After an arranged marriage at thirteen and six grown-up children, Hawa emancipates herself from her role as housewife by learning to read and write. Determined to rebuild her life despite the many obstacles, she is supported by her daughter, Najiba Noori, the film’s director. But when the Taliban regained power, her dreams, like those of many women, were shattered. Najiba fled to France while Hawa remained, determined to keep her hopes alive despite the severe restrictions imposed on women. This film pays tribute to Hawa’s resilience and to the unshakeable courage of Afghan women in the face of oppression.
This film won the Young Documentary Jury Prize at the FIFDH 2025.

Afghanistan, 2023. Après un mariage arrangé à treize ans et six enfants désormais adultes, Hawa s’émancipe de son rôle de femme au foyer, en apprenant à lire et à écrire. Déterminée à reconstruire sa vie malgré les nombreux obstacles, elle est soutenue par sa fille, Najiba Noori, la réalisatrice du film. Mais lorsque les talibans reprennent le pouvoir, ses rêves, comme ceux de nombreuses femmes, s’effondrent. Najiba s’enfuit en France tandis que Hawa reste, résolue à garder espoir malgré les restrictions sévères imposées aux femmes. Ce film rend hommage à la résilience de Hawa et au courage inébranlable des Afghanes face à l’oppression.
Ce film a gagné le Prix du Jury des jeunes documentaire au FIFDH 2025
