◈ Description
For HIFLOW, Séverin Guelpa presents a large-scale installation that draws the public into a sonic and telluric twilight, a space where the boundaries between the mineral and the human become porous. Stones, voices, breaths and instruments come together in a shared vibration, like the components of a single organism in motion.
A rift, that deep fracture in the Earth’s crust where tectonic plates pull apart and fold, opens up a space for transformation. Far from evoking a definitive rupture, RIFT approaches the fault line as a place of listening, passage and connection. Here, trembling is not the sign of an imminent end of the world, but the expression of an interdependence between beings, materials and the forces that move through them.
Within the installation, sounds emerging from the depths of the Earth enter into dialogue with human voices and instrumental resonances. Vibrations spread through the space like invisible connections, inviting the public to feel what brings things together rather than what separates them. In this dimly lit environment inhabited by frequencies and resonances, listening becomes a physical experience, a way of entering into relation with temporalities and presences that extend beyond the human scale.
On 18 September, the exhibition will open with SOUFFLE #3, a performance bringing together singers, musicians and vibrations from the mineral world. Conceived as an activation of the installation, this collective work will unfold as a sonic landscape in which voices, instruments and telluric resonances merge into a single movement, embodying the idea that all existence takes part in a vast vibrational community.
With RIFT, Séverin Guelpa invites us to inhabit the fault line not as a place of separation, but as a space for encounter, attention and transformation.
