Are we all someone's barbarians? In resonance with the title of the exhibition, our guest proposes to decipher the figure of the barbarian still omnipresent in the media or in political speeches. By going back over the origin and history of this concept, this meeting will allow you to discover how the figure of the barbarian has been updated for several thousand years in our Western society without being associated only with a negative image.
Speaker Professor Markus Winkler, Department of German Language and Literature, UNIGE
