The mouth organ is a fundamental musical instrument in the soundscape of Laos, where it is played by most ethnic groups. This singular instrument is central to the affirmation of identity (durability, resilience, or revival). This conference offers an overview, both sonorous and visual, of the great musical diversity of mouth organs, representative of pluriethnicity and at the heart of the Lao musical heritage.
Véronique de Lavenère, ethnomusicologist, Doctor of Sorbonne University, researchers associated with IReMUS and CASE.
