"The Rivages Normands 2100 programme aims to gain a better understanding of the impacts of climate change on coastal water tables and their socio-economic consequences. The aim is to support local players in co-constructing adaptation scenarios for their areas.
To achieve this, an unprecedented piezometric network, managed by the local authorities, is ensuring accurate monitoring of coastal water tables, in order to better assess the risks of flooding associated with rising sea levels and increased rainfall.
The project has helped to develop HYDROMODPY, a simple and flexible hydrogeological modelling tool based on MODFLOW. It makes it easy to integrate the IPCC's climate scenarios and facilitates dialogue between researchers, local authorities and local players.
In this way, Rivages Normands 2100 transforms complex models into knowledge-sharing tools, encouraging participation and ownership of the risks associated with groundwater in the context of climate change".
