Born in a small town in Aspromonte, Calabria, Davide Ambrogio created his own musical language based on an archaic heritage: oral tradition. After a remarkable first work on rituals with the award-winning album Evocations and Invocations, which led to a major European tour, Davide Ambrogio presents his new album, Mater Nullius, a work that explores contemporary man's disconnection from nature and the need for a human and spiritual rebirth.
Through a narrative blending music and research, the Calabrian artist recounts an inner transformation, symbolized by a dialogue between the rationality of modern man and his unconscious, primitive, and wild side. The musical heart of Mater Nullius is born from a reinterpretation of the sound code used during Holy Week rituals in southern Italy, adapted in this album to tell the protagonist's journey toward transformation. The "instruments of darkness" from the Christian Easter tradition (drum, troccole, and chains) blend with modern voices and sounds, creating a striking contrast between the acoustic and electronic worlds.
The 14 stations of the Via Crucis thus become a metaphor for the protagonist's inner journey: a modern man confronted with a profound crisis through a confrontation with his primitive self. The album consists of 14 tracks, each representing a stage of this journey.

Né dans une petite ville de l’Aspromonte en Calabre, Davide Ambrogio créé son propre langage musical à partir d’un héritage archaïque : la tradition orale. Après un premier travail remarquable autour des rites avec l’album Evocazioni e Invocazioni récompensé plusieurs fois et qui a offert une grande tournée européenne, Davide Ambrogio présente son nouvel album intitulé Mater Nullius, une œuvre qui explore la déconnexion de l’homme contemporain avec la nature et la nécessité d’une renaissance humaine et spirituelle.
À travers une narration mêlant musique et recherche, l’artiste calabrais raconte une transformation intérieure, symbolisée par un dialogue entre la rationalité de l’homme moderne et son côté inconscient, primitif et sauvage. Le cœur musical de Mater Nullius naît d’une réinterprétation du code sonore utilisé lors des rituels de la Semaine sainte en Italie du Sud, adapté dans cet album pour raconter le voyage du protagoniste vers la transformation.
Les « instruments des ténèbres » issus de la tradition pascale chrétienne (tambour, troccole et chaînes) se mêlent aux voix et aux sons modernes, créant un contraste saisissant entre les univers acoustique et électronique.
