In flamenco, a falseta is a brief instrumental section, usually provided by the guitar, between the sung parts. Since the violin is neither quite a voice nor quite a guitar, how can it exist on its own in the world of flamenco? Playing flamenco with two violins is the challenge that Yardani Torres Maiani and Marc Crofts have set themselves.
By studying and deconstructing the elements specific to this music, the two musicians attempt to establish a true grammar of the flamenco violin.
The duo offers a programme of original compositions, firmly rooted in traditional forms, while using contemporary means.
FALSETAS is the meeting of violin and flamenco, but it is also the crossed views of Yardani and Marc, and the dialogue between their visions, nourished respectively by classical music and jazz.
Finally, this project is accompanied by a desire for transmission, with research into the question of writing flamenco, an a priori oral tradition.
Sylvia Perujo
Dancer and choreographer Sylvia Perujo has made flamenco her life and her passion. She is a regular guest at festivals in Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany, and participates with numerous companies.
Sylvia will do us the great honour of accompanying Marc and Yardani during this magnificent evening; not to be missed!

En flamenco, une falseta est une brève section instrumentale, généralement assurée par la guitare, entre les parties chantées.
Le violon n'étant ni tout à fait une voix, ni tout à fait une guitare, comment peut-il exister par lui même dans le monde du flamenco?
Jouer du flamenco à deux violons, c'est le défi que se sont lancé Yardani Torres Maiani et Marc Crofts.
En passant par une étude et une déconstruction des éléments propres à cette musique, les deux musiciens tentent de mettre en place une véritable grammaire du violon flamenco.
Le duo propose un programme de compositions originales, fermement ancré dans des formes traditionnelles, tout en utilisant des moyens contemporains.
FALSETAS c'est la rencontre du violon et du flamenco, mais ce sont aussi les regards croisés de Yardani et de Marc, et le dialogue entre leurs visions, nourries respectivement par la musique classique et par le jazz.
Enfin, ce projet s'accompagne d'une volonté de transmission, avec une recherche autour de la question de l'écriture du flamenco, tradition a priori orale.

Danseuse et chorégraphe Sylvia Perujo a fait du Flamenco sa vie et sa passion. Elle est régulièrement l’invitée de festivals en Suisse, en France, en Italie et en Allemagne, et participe avec de nombreuses compagnies.
