To mark the European Heritage Days, Wesserling Park invites you to discover its history, industrial heritage, and the people currently working to preserve it from a fresh perspective.
Throughout the day, enjoy meetings, lectures, and discussions to dive into the heart of Wesserling's history and the region's industrial heritage.
On the Agenda:
• 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM + 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM (Ferme Patronale): Demonstrations of sheep wool carding and weaving on a vertical loom
Hosted by the Ferme du Kolben from Mittlach, showcasing their stand of wool-based products.
• 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Ferme Patronale): The role of the Fondation du Patrimoine in preserving and restoring sites and buildings: focus on Wesserling
Discover the missions of the Fondation du Patrimoine through discussions with Claude Mongars, departmental delegate of the foundation, and Nadège Galbourdin, heritage manager at the Wesserling Ecomuseum.
• 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (Ferme Patronale): Living Memory with Paul Boeglin, a former textile worker in Wesserling for twenty years.
• 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM (Grande Chaufferie Exhibition Room): Wesserling's Grande Chaufferie versus the Chalampé power plant example
Engage with the former technical director and the team from the Energy Production Center Chalampé.
• 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM (Château Group Room): Humanism and Paternalism in Wesserling in the 19th and 20th Centuries
A discussion on Wesserling's social and industrial history with Marc Ritzenthaler, author of the temporary exhibition celebrating the bicentennial of the Société Industrielle de Mulhouse and Vice President of the Musée des Familles Dollfus, Mieg et Koechlin, alongside Nadège Galbourdin, heritage manager at the Wesserling Ecomuseum.
• 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (1st Floor of the Château): Overview of Regional Industries around 1850
Meet Pierre Fluck, honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France, Doctor of Science, Professor Emeritus, and Knight of the Legion of Honour. Then, attend a micro-lecture in the group room at 4:15 PM and a book signing session in the turbine room / shop starting at 5:15 PM.
