For photographer and filmmaker Daphne Bengoa, the city can be considered a work, an artifact laden with symbolic values and a place of collective memory.

Daphné Bengoa, La jetée, Sidi Fredj, Algérie, 2018. Collection Frac Centre-Val de Loire

In 2018, Daphné Bengoa produced a series of photographs around the Algerian work of the French architect Fernand Pouillon, from his housing projects to tourist complexes. For the artist, this is the ingenious construction of «mini-cities» in which cohabit a set of lives that leave traces and write the history of these architectures in time. Inhabitants, workers and tourists invest and appropriate these spaces, equip them to make their places of life.
