After a well-deserved summer break, we’re back for a new #cine season! And what better way to kick things off than with a preview screening attended by South African director Zamo Mkhwanazi? She’ll be joining us to talk about her debut feature film, *LAUNDRY*.
What’s it about? Johannesburg, 1968. Khuthala hates his father’s laundry business and has no intention of taking over the family business. But the apartheid government is cracking down hard on Black entrepreneurs. Khuthala is torn between his dream of becoming a musician and the fight against the injustice threatening the business – his sole means of livelihood and the bond that unites his family.

Après une pause estivale bien méritée, nous sommes de retour pour une nouvelle saison #cine ! Et quoi de mieux pour commencer qu’une avant-première en présence de la réalisatrice sud-africaine Zamo Mkhwanazi ? Elle viendra nous parler de son premier long-métrage LAUNDRY.
De quoi ça parle? Johannesburg, 1968. Khuthala déteste la blanchisserie de son père et ne veut pas reprendre l'entreprise familiale. Mais le gouvernement de l'apartheid mène une répression sévère contre les entrepreneurs noirs. Khuthala est tiraillé entre son rêve de devenir musicien et la lutte contre l'injustice qui menace l'entreprise, son seul moyen de subsistance et le lien qui unit sa famille.
