"ManScapes exhibition" of the photographer Sébastien Blanquet-Rivière
ManScapes scouts out the fertile entanglements between humans and their milieu, between the vulnerability of the bodies and the deep-rooted permanence of nature.
The photographer’s work revolves around two distinctive sceneries that echo one another: on the one hand the studio, where the curves of the lone body sketch out the contours of a dreamed landscape; on the other hand the outside, where the lines of the body come together with those of nature, joining into a single vital force.
This male landscape also gives an insight into the dark recesses of the soul, prey to the daily moral injunctions and the ordinary violence. Beneath these nudes, the artist eventually lays bare his own heart after a slow, painful and finally invigorating journey.
Through this mirroring process, the age of self-erasure comes to an end, giving rise to the naked truth and soothing trust. ManScapes is a manifesto for the reviviscency and rewilding of the innermost self. Definitely worth a peek !
