In most Western cosmogonies, the elements are extracted from an original mixture, and separated so that forms spring forth. The sky flies away, the earth becomes firm, seas spread. Then life manifests itself, the celestial movements make the world harmonious by tuning their dissonances, and humans claim their sovereignty. Today, the Earth is playing a different part. It reacts to what it is made to undergo. Hurricanes and floods, droughts and mega-storms, or earthquakes, each of these events reminds us that nothing is fixed, no soil is stable, and that harmony is an image. We have lived so long with the idea of a well-ordered world that we have relegated the elements to the background of a decor. We have become "aliens" (Italo Calvino). How to find the right agreement in order to adjust the living among themselves and become terrestrial again? With hydro-feminism (Astrida Neimanis), it is time to change narratives, listen to all the voices of nature and understand that we are intimately connected to the world through the life of the elements. To invent other ways of recounting our reciprocities with the non-human at the crossroads of ecology, anthropology and literature, in a constant dialogue with the arts and sciences, we must first reconcile ourselves with meteorological moods, the deep breaths of water, the fluid materials of the Earth, and live immersion experiences.

Dans la plupart des cosmogonies occidentales, les éléments sont extraits d’un mélange originel, et séparés pour que des formes jaillissent. Le ciel s’envole, la terre devient ferme, des mers se répandent. Puis la vie se manifeste, les mouvements célestes rendent le monde harmonieux en accordant leurs dissonances, et les humains revendiquent leur souveraineté. Aujourd’hui, la Terre joue une autre partition. Elle réagit à ce qu’on lui fait subir. Les ouragans et les inondations, les sécheresses et les mégafeux, ou les séismes, chacun de ces événements nous rappelle que rien n’est fixe, qu’aucun sol n’est stable, et que l’harmonie est une image. Nous avons si longtemps vécu avec l’idée d’un monde bien ordonné que nous avons relégué les éléments au fond d’un décor. Nous sommes devenus des « extraterrestres » (Italo Calvino). Comment retrouver le bon accord afin d’ajuster les vivants entre eux et de redevenir terrestres ? Avec l’hydro-féminisme (Astrida Neimanis), il est temps de changer de récits, d’écouter toutes les voix de la nature et de comprendre que nous sommes intimement reliés au monde par la vie des éléments. Pour inventer d’autres manières de raconter nos réciprocités avec le non-humain au croisement de l’écologie, de l’anthropologie et de la littérature, dans un dialogue constant avec les arts et les sciences, nous devons d’abord nous réconcilier avec les humeurs météorologiques, les respirations profondes de l’eau, les matières fluides de la Terre, et vivre des expériences d’immersion.

In de meeste Westerse kosmogonieën worden de elementen uit een origineel mengsel gewonnen en gescheiden zodat de vormen voortkomen. De lucht vliegt weg, de aarde wordt stevig, zeeën verspreid. Dan manifesteert het leven zich, de hemelse bewegingen maken de wereld harmonieus door hun dissonanties af te stemmen, en mensen eisen hun soevereiniteit. Vandaag speelt de aarde een andere rol. Het reageert op wat het moet ondergaan. Orkanen en overstromingen, droogtes en megastormen, of aardbevingen, elk van deze gebeurtenissen herinnert ons eraan dat niets vast staat, geen grond stabiel is, en dat harmonie een beeld is. We leven zo lang met het idee van een goed geordende wereld dat we de elementen naar de achtergrond van een decor hebben gedegradeerd. We zijn "aliens" geworden (Italo Calvino). Hoe vinden we de juiste overeenkomst om de levenden onderling aan te passen en weer terrestrisch te worden? Met hydro-feminisme (Astrida Neimanis) is het tijd om van verhaal te veranderen, naar alle stemmen van de natuur te luisteren en te begrijpen dat we nauw verbonden zijn met de wereld door het leven van de elementen. Om andere manieren uit te vinden om onze reciprocities met de niet-mens op het kruispunt van ecologie, antropologie en literatuur te recupereren, in een constante dialoog met de kunsten en wetenschappen, moeten we ons eerst verzoenen met meteorologische stemmingen, de diepe ademhaling van water, de vloeibare materialen van de Aarde, en levende onderdompeling ervaringen.
