À propos du lieu

Lycée Stendhal
Allée Charles de Gaulle, 47190 Aiguillon
  • Lot-et-Garonne
  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The Stendhal high school occupies the castle built in the eighteenth century by the Duke of Aiguillon, powerful minister of the late reign of Louis XV.
This monumental castle, in a pure classical style of the time has retained its characteristic architecture despite its transformation into a high school in 1966\. It is the key to a remarkable and unexpected urban architectural ensemble in a small town the size of Aiguillon. Its renovation in 2024 (it houses classrooms and a boarding school) still allows to discover the architectural features of the time, the beauty of the elements that compose it and guess the magnificence of the life of a great lord in the eighteenth century.
