From the history of the Bel Air district, where a girls' high school was built on the site of a former plague hospital, only the chapel survived from the 17th century. From the 1960s, the architecture of the buildings made it a flagship example in Angoulême of the precepts of Le Corbusier. Gradually, the school acquired remarkable works of art. Mosaic, sculpture, fresco, photographs and number of pieces collected through projects with contemporary artists.
A course «Dispositif-Portraits», co created by the second history of the arts and plastic arts, enriches and highlights the heritage of the high school. It is a question of bringing female figures to life through works scattered in the space of the establishment. It is therefore the matrimony of the high school that will be honored this year.
