Between the Rue Elie Fréron and the Rue des Douves, protected by the city’s east ramparts, the Jardin de la Retraite extends over nearly half a hectare. The configuration of the terrain has determined a series of gardens that allow a succession of viewpoints as well as three very diverse spaces that communicate with each other by steps or doors. The low plot organized around a pond houses a beautiful collection of palm trees. The adjoining garden is devoted to dry land plants. Finally, broad-leaved plants of tropical appearance accompany the visitor to the street Elie Fréron.
