À propos du lieu

Les Jardins de Kerdalo
Kerdalo 22220 Trédarzec
  • Côtes-d'Armor
  • Bretagne
The gardens of Kerdalo extend over 18 hectares, along a steep valley that descends gently towards the river Jaudy. This English landscape garden borrows different elements of Italian or exotic inspiration.
Above the manor stand Italian terraces planted with exotic specimens. A long rectangular basin in the upper part of the valley ends on a pagoda of Chinese inspiration.
Located below the courtyard of the mansion, the «garden of four squares» is a formal garden of Italian inspiration. Composed of interlocking checkerboards, it is planted with four perennials and bordered by two corner pavilions.
Several ponds and basins stand along the valley. At the bottom, a paved path crosses a basin lined with huge gunneras of Brazil and leads to an Italianate cave decorated with figures in shells.
The Kerdalo Gardens are located in the French town of Trédarzec in the department of Côtes-d'Armor (Brittany). Created in 1965 by Prince Pierre Wolkonsky, they have been on the list of remarkable gardens
