Guided tour of a 19th century garden at the foot of the ramparts of Montaigu in Vendée, on the banks of the river Maine
The Cèdres property marks the entrance of the city, as soon as the bridge over Maine is crossed.
This enclosed garden, not overlooked, is a green setting in terraces, facing south, which gives direct access to the river.
The alignment of century-old cedars creates a very noticeable «vegetable door». This city garden is contemporary with the Parc public Henri Joyau (former Parc des Rochettes, located on the same bank of Maine).
In France in the middle of the 19th century, we sometimes speak of «Sino-English» composite landscape garden, because of the origin of the plants set up, the adaptation to the environment and the borrowing from other landscapes.
Come and enjoy the sound of water, the colors and smells of flowers, the softness of some foliage...
Exceptional opening, private garden.
Access: Free parking on the street and nearby.
Pets not allowed and picnic prohibited.
