À propos du lieu

Jardins du château de Mongenan
16 rue de Mongenan, 33640 Portets
  • Gironde
  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The gardens of the castle of Mongenan are to the number of three (garden for ornament, garden of utility and garden for enjoyment(approval)), drawn in 1736 according to the precepts of Linné and seen again(revised) from 1741 according to conceptions(designs) of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, music master(teacher) of the baron Antoine de Gascq who made build Mongenan. Gardens exactly kept(preserved) their spirit of the XVIIIth century. The visit of the garden cannot part from that of the museum which presents an important herbarium of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, important botanical collections and also explains symbolic value.
