À propos du lieu

Musée national Jean-Jacques Henner
43 avenue de Villiers 75017 Paris

  • Île-de-France
Located in the Plaine Monceau district, the mansion that now houses the museum dedicated to the painter Jean-Jacques Henner (1829-1905) was originally the home and studio of Guillaume Dubufe (1853-1909). The building is remarkable for its decorations and its architectural elements borrowed from different eras and civilizations. The collections of the museum trace, from his native Alsace to Paris where Jean-Jacques Henner made a career, through the Villa Medici where he stayed after obtaining the Grand Prix of Rome of painting, the itinerary of an artist considered at the beginning of the 20th century as one of the most important of his time. The winter garden, the central space of the museum, was restored in 2016 to regain its original character and become a space dedicated to the meeting of arts, artists and the public.
