As part of the Rendez-Vous aux Jardins, the association Berry Nature Environnement presents every 30 minutes (from 2:30 pm to 5 pm) a bird from the exhibition «La République des oiseaux» at the museum. The museum has chosen to highlight a selection of specimens from its ornithological collection: a total of 2,480 specimens from the 18th and 19th centuries, from all continents, partly brought back during scientific expeditions. The exhibition addresses the great scientific collections of the nineteenth century, through the figures of Emmanuel (1742-1801) and François (1778-1855) Baillon, who formed this unique ensemble. The collection, through its fragility and the presence of endangered and extinct species, questions our contemporary relationship to nature and its impact on it, more than two centuries after its constitution.
To enrich this reflection, the museum invited, in residence, the contemporary pointillist artist, Alexandre PALEZIS. His approach, focused on the «long» time, questions the future. His work at the small point, almost microscopic, recalls the scientific plates of the first explorer artists.
A dialogue is thus created between the museum’s heritage works and the creations of Alexandre Palezis.
