In the kitchen garden of Eutin Castle a variety of useful and medicinal plants, flowers and old varieties grow again, partly according to historical cultivation methods. More than 50 dedicated, voluntary gardeners cultivate the beds, plots and meadows. "This citizen project is unique in this form and size in Germany," says Brigitta Herrmann, managing director of the Eutin Castle Foundation. Throughout the weekend, they share their garden knowledge in lectures, demonstrations and talks, let see, smell, taste and touch, present the medicinal plant of the year, lead through plots and offer tastings. Harry Heinsen has a kitchen garden café where the harvest products from the garden are also processed.
