Aix-Marseille-Université, CEREGE (European Centre for Research and Teaching in Environmental Geosciences).
For a few years now, the effects of climate change have been felt, both in our region, in France and around the world and sometimes disrupt our daily life. The effects of this change are visible at the level of sometimes impressive weather phenomena.
Xavier Giraud, young researcher and teacher followed a teaching of paleo-climatologist, that is to say that he studied over a very long time (millions of years, see more), the evolutions of the climate. Xavier Giraud uses geochemistry to understand large-scale changes, and how these climate changes come from ecosystems.
He suggests that we try to differentiate between climate (long-term effects) and weather (short-term effects). The lack of information and rigor sometimes make these debates confusing and the positions too clear on one side, as on the other.
A debate with the public is proposed following this presentation of about fifty minutes.
