Explore the garden of Rundāle Palace Museum
On June 1, we invite you to spend a leisurely afternoon in the French garden of Rundāle Palace Museum. Experience the enchantment of the garden and let it delight all your five senses, as it transitions from spring to summer – perhaps even discovering new, unknown sensations!
In the daily hustle and bustle, we often forget to stop and pause, inhaling the fragrance of a blooming plant or listening to the sounds of our surroundings, enjoying the peace and calm that only a garden can provide. That’s why we want to remind you how important it is not only to think and keep moving, but to stop and feel as well.
‘A Date in the Garden’ is an invitation to a joyful and respectful encounter with the living nature, with oneself, and with others. However, our programme also features special activities, designed for kids and adults. These will predominantly take place at the Golden Vase Pavilion, where a small café is open to visitors during the summer months.
You will also have the opportunity to experience and explore the gardens of Rundāle Palace by playing an orienteering game, alongside other educational sensory games and activities that will help you spot and tenderly observe a range of plants, insects and other living creatures, with plenty of rare specimens to behold!
We will encourage you to notice elements of typical French garden design, deepening your understanding of garden culture. As part of this, we’ll invite you to walk barefooted along the ‘Sensory Path’, experiencing different types of ground covers for yourself. We’ll ask you to guess what natural object you’ve touched without seeing it, recognise birdsong while playing ‘Bird Bingo’, identify the components of a historical potpourri mixture based on its smell and appearance alone, and distinguish popular as well as lesser-known herbs.
Encounter, feel and experience the garden of Rundāle Palace!
