The Botanical Garden "Michele Tenore" was founded in 1995 at 650 meters above sea level and currently houses about 500 plant species on an area of 9000 square meters. The Garden is structured into educational sections and sections that reproduce the vegetational environments of the Majella. Many of the cultivated species are endemic to the Central Apennines or exclusive to the Majella and the surrounding reliefs. Of particular interest is the reproduction of the Neolithic agricultural landscape and the section dedicated to the recovery of local varieties. The Garden, in addition to cultural and educational purposes, has also set itself the goal of protecting ex-situ some species in danger of extinction of the flora of Abruzzo . The Majella Germoplasma Bank is located in the Botanical Garden to conserve rare, endemic and endangered species.
