The Orto Sylvatico, located 2.3 km from the village of Collepardo, has an extension of about 1.5 hectares at an average altitude of 640 m. s.l.m. It is located on the western slopes of the central Ernici Mountains, at the foot of the Monna Mountains (1952 m. above sea level) and Rotonaria (1744 m. above sea level). The area is characterized by a low mountain environment mainly characterized by mixed woods of deciduous oaks (oak and turkey oak), with hornbeam, orniello and oak in the warmest areas. The kingdom of the beech tree begins higher. It’s managed by the Sylvatica association, in agreement with the Municipality of Collepardo, which carries out research, environmental education and sustainability and dissemination. In the Garden there are about 400 spontaneous plant species of which about half are marked with specific identification and information cards, including some rare and protected species such as Iris marsica and Dictamnus albus.
