À propos du lieu

MUSEO-GIARDINO DELLA CIVILTÀ DELLA SETA “MARIO MONASTEROLO”

An overview that unites the past to the present, architecture to the landscape, tradition to innovation. The Museum-Garden of the Silk Civilization of Racconigi is a place of narration where simple dissemination meets engaging scenic spaces to become a holistic story of the time that has been. Between the mid-fifteenth century and the beginning of the sixteenth century, in fact, Racconigi became the first Savoy village to experiment with the domestic processing of silk fabrics and the first to have also developed an integrated silk production chain. Specialized in particular in the spinning of organzino, the territory experienced a gradual and contemporary expansion of the cultivation of mulberry trees, which until a few decades ago still embellished the surrounding countryside. A journey into the true essence of the city, in short, for a complete and enriching visit experience
