The Haute Couture gardens are exceptional gardens. Located at La Couture in Huismes, they form a delicate setting of greenery and scents around a charming house, formerly the home of Gilles Chauvelin, famous stonemason in Indre et Loire and great friend of Max Ernst, whose famous works and statues in tufa were made at La Couture.
Nestled in the hillside and crowned by the forest of Chinon, these gardens were created ex nihilo 15 years ago on 5000 m2 by the current owner taking advantage of the existing structure in terraces on five levels. Open to the Indre and Loire Valley, they reveal their secrets one by one in a maze of green rooms punctuated with topiaries, pergolas, arches and richly colored massifs.
The gardens are gardens of the future, inscribed in an aesthetic, ecological and educational sustainable approach.
The approach moves away from traditional French gardens. Here Nature is queen, you have to adapt to it and listen to it. Planted exclusively with medicinal, honey and aromatic perennials, with water points, small basins and ollas, the gardens are a sanctuary of biodiversity and refuge for endangered species.
It is a garden that was designed from the beginning with sustainable water management. We have chosen a smart choice of plants adapted to the terrain and climate.
