The Medici Park of Pratolino is a monumental complex owned by the Metropolitan City of Florence that boasts, since 2013, the inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List, along with the other Villas and Medici Gardens of Tuscany. Built in '500, it was the residence of Francesco I de' Medici and Bianca Cappello. Bernardo Buontalenti, Bartolomeo Ammannati, Valerio Cioli, Vincenzo Danti and the Giambologna worked on its realization, to whom we owe the famous Colossus of the Apennines, a giant at the moment of awakening or birth from the mountain. In 1819 the Grand Duke Ferdinand III of Lorraine changed the Italian garden into an English garden. The park, owned by Leopold II since 1837, was sold on his death to Prince Paolo Demidoff, who chose the building of the Paggeria, now Villa Demidoff, as his residence. From the last descendant of the Demidoffs, the princess Marija Pavlovna Demidova, now buried behind the chapel of Buontalenti, the property passed to the Provincial Administration of

The park can be reached by the following public transport of Autolinee Toscane: Bus 25A direction Pratolino , with terminus in Piazza Libertà in Florence (interchange Tramvia T2 stop Libertà Parterre) or extra-urban line 307A. It is also possible to reach the Park with your own vehicles, thanks to the free parking in front of the entrance to the Park.
