À propos du lieu

Conservatoire des plantes à parfum, aromatiques, médicinales et industrielles

Route de Nemours, 91490 Milly-la-Forêt, France

Essonne

Île-de-France

Based in Milly-la-Foret, the Conservatoire is an association backed by the Agricultural Technical Institute of the Perfume, aromatic and medicinal plants sector (PPAM). Our mission is to conserve, enhance and disseminate wild and cultivated biodiversity of PPAM. The commune of Milly-la-Foret is known to be the historical basin of the production of medicinal plants in Ile-de-France. In 1890, Armand Darbonne developed a large-scale production and built an innovative dryer that made it possible to export “Milly’s method” throughout France. After a move of the farm to Maine-et-Loire in 1987, the association “Conservatoire des Plantes” was created to preserve the rich and precious collections in place. Since then, collections have continued to grow through purchases, donations and exchanges. The Conservatory, open to the public, successfully pursues its mission of awareness in parallel with those, founders of conservation, experimentation and dissemination.
