At a time when Strasbourg is World Book Capital, the exhibition presented by the 5th Place offers a new and intimate look at the architecture of libraries in Strasbourg. Since the mythical library of Alexandria, libraries have become monumental to fit into the city, the ideal of conservation and dissemination of knowledge embodied in stone. Temples of Knowledge, libraries are now transformed into places of life according to the evolutions of the public and their uses, new constructions and renovations. As witnesses of their time, libraries reveal contemporary societal and cultural issues through their architecture.
