Exhibition of a collection - Plan-les-Ouates Art Fund
To mark the 175th anniversary of the Commune of Plan-les-Ouates, the Cultural Service presents the first exhibition of its collection of mobile works.

Established in 1991, the Art Fund – formerly the Decoration Fund – was created with the aim of supporting artistic creation and permanently integrating visual arts into public spaces, municipal buildings, and daily life.
As the municipality has transformed from a rural area into a rapidly growing community, the Art Fund has evolved to support these changes, maintain the presence of art in the region, and support artists.
The exhibition brings together a selection of some sixty works – paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, videos, and installations – showcasing the diversity of artistic approaches that have shaped a collection linked to the environment and contemporary practices. A first catalogue accompanies the exhibition and recounts the history of the municipal Art Fund. Conceived as an entry point to this collection, the exhibition and catalogue offer an interpretation of this artistic heritage: they reveal its evolution, contexts, and development through choices and commitments. They thus affirm the essential role of a municipal fund: to preserve, transmit and make accessible a cultural heritage.

À l’occasion du 175ème anniversaire de la Commune de Plan-les-Ouates, le Service culturel présente la première exposition de sa collection d’oeuvres mobiles.

Créé en 1991, le Fonds d’art – anciennement Fonds de décoration – est né d’une volonté de soutenir la création artistique et d’inscrire durablement les arts visuels dans l’espace public, les bâtiments communaux et la vie quotidienne.
Au fil des transformations de la Commune, passée d’une région rurale à une localité en pleine croissance, le Fonds d’art s’est développé pour accompagner ces mutations, maintenir la présence de l’art sur le territoire et soutenir les artistes.
L’exposition réunit une sélection d’une soixantaine d’oeuvres – peinture, dessin, photographie, sculpture, vidéo et installation – témoignant de la diversité des démarches artistiques ayant façonné une collection liée à environnement et aux pratiques contemporaines.
Un premier catalogue accompagne l’exposition et retrace l’histoire du Fonds d’art communal. Conçus comme une porte d’entrée dans cette collection, l’exposition et le catalogue proposent une lecture de ce patrimoine artistique : ils en révèlent les évolutions, les contextes et la construction au fil des choix et des engagements. Ils affirment ainsi le rôle essentiel d’un Fonds communal : conserver, transmettre et rendre accessible un patrimoine culturel.
