Visit with Estelle Sohier, Indumati Sen, Damien Kunik and Floriane Morin of the temporary exhibition “Remembering. Geneva in the colonial world”. Sunday 8th of decembre, 2 pm- 4pm.
This guided tour will introduce you to three sections of the exhibition that symbolise the fight against imperialism. Damien Kunik and Indumati Senn will talk about the Indian independence struggle, while Estelle Sohier will present the Ethiopian battles against the British and then the Italians. Floriane Morin will tell us about the memorial work of Clément-Marie Biazin, a self-taught painter and traveller from Central Africa. His work immortalises Central African culture, which he believes is disappearing in the face of colonialism.
Estelle Sohier is an associate professor at the University of Geneva. Her thesis was devoted to the political use of photography during the colonial period, and the history of Ethiopian royalty between the 1880s and the 1930s.
Damien Kunik and Floriane Morin are curators of the MEG's Asia and Africa collections respectively.
Indumati Sen is an Ombudsman, mediator and artist. She worked for the MEG on questions regarding decolonisation and has done extensive research on the indian objects and painting presented in the exhibition "Remembering".

Cette visite à quatre voix vous fera découvrir trois sections de l’exposition symbolisant la lutte contre les impérialismes. Damien Kunik et Indumati Sen parleront de la lutte indépendantiste indienne et Estelle Sohier présentera les batailles éthiopiennes contre les Anglais puis les Italiens. Floriane Morin, elle, nous racontera l’œuvre mémorialiste de Clément-Marie Biazin, un peintre-vagabond autodidacte de Centrafrique. Son travail immortalise la culture centrafricaine, qu’il pense en voie de disparition face au colonialisme.
