Spoliated words: itineraries of "oral literature"
To mark the publication of the last issue of Gradhiva magazine, entitled "Paroles spoliées. Itinéraires de la littérature orale", we invite you to meet some of the contributors.
What has become of statements collected in a colonial context in Europe's intellectual and literary space? At what cost have myths, prayers and songs become samples of "oral literature"? Can we document their provenance, as we do for artifacts, and even develop modes of restitution? Using the case of the verbal arts as a starting point, this dossier tackles the questions that are shaking up the museum world today.
Speakers: Éléonore Devevey, lecturer at the University of Geneva, Vincent Debaene, professor at the University of Geneva, Jehanne Denogent, PhD from the University of Lausanne.
