MEG X FILMAR en América Latina : Los Colonos
As part of the temporary exhibition "Memories. Geneva in the Colonial World" temporary exhibition, a series of films for adults, children and teenagers is on offer between May and December, offering a different approach to the themes addressed by the exhibition.
As part of the FILMAR en América Latina festival, which runs from 15 to 24 November, Felipe Gálvez's film Los Colonos (The Colonists) will be screened at the MEG.
Chile, 1901. A wealthy rancher from Tierra del Fuego hires an English lieutenant and an American mercenary to open up a route to the Atlantic Ocean for his sheep. Segundo, a Chilean mestizo, is chosen by the lieutenant to guide the two men on their mission, which makes him the unwitting accomplice in a violent manhunt against the indigenous people. Seven years later, a Chilean government official visits the region with the apparent aim of documenting the crimes committed against the Indians.The Settlers depicts the birth of frontiers at the ends of the earth, telling the story of how countries write their official history.
The screening is free and no registration is required. Please arrive no later than 5 minutes before the start of the film.
