As an artist, how can we account for the traumas of contemporary history and the possibility – or not – of a future? A multidisciplinary filmmaker of Palestinian origin, Basma Alsharif confronts these essential questions in the unclassifiable work of Ouroboros. A journey between experimental documentary and fiction, which opens with a meditative vision of the Gaza Strip, gives way to the melancholic wanderings of a character in search of love on several continents. The filmmaker shakes up all the rules of cinema – including the very concept of linear recording – in order to find a new language that not only makes it possible to question the nature of cinema but also our way of thinking about issues related to the Middle East.
