MIDI REGARD with Annabelle Ténèze, director of the Louvre-Lens: The Peasant Museum
What is the place of peasants in art history? Having grown up myself in a village farm and worked on the exhibition Artists and Peasants. Beat the campaign, soon presented at the Abattoirs, Musée-FRAC Occitanie Toulouse, and while many artists of the young generation try to represent the peasant reality in the light of the issues facing agriculture today, I wondered about the links between artists and peasants in art history. When do art and agriculture meet? When does peasant history enter the museum? What place does it occupy? What does this dialogue between artists and farmers teach us as we redefine our relationships through the environment? I propose as part of this visit «Midi Regard» to circulate in the Palais des Beaux-Arts of Lille in search of the Peasant Museum.
