Ciné-Spectacle | Life is absurd + projection Contempt
18h30 LIFE IS ABSURD Transdisciplinary show presented by Bette Davis Collective
Karoo is a Doctor script, he reworks the scripts that are entrusted to him to format them «Hollywood style». Karoo (meaning «the land of thirst») is also plagued by a singular evil: no matter how much alcohol he drinks, he can’t get drunk. Allergic to any form of intimacy, he neither manages to be a father to his son (adoptive), nor a lover, nor even a friend. One day, while watching a film that he must retouch, he recognizes the laughter of one of the actresses. He heard that laugh a long time ago, but he is sure. This actress is the “natural” mother of his adopted son, Billy. He never met her, he just had a phone call with her twenty years ago. He sees in this discovery, a way to redeem himself in the face of his many failures especially as a father. What if Karoo gave Billy back his birth mother? Would that make up for everything else?
Adaptation and direction: Béatrice Courtois. Director: Eric Deschamp. With Maud Leroy, Fabrice Gaillard, Stéphane Hervé, Nicolas Genestin. After Karoo by Steve Tesich. Novel translated from English by Anne Wicke, published by Monsieur Toussaint Louverture in 1998.
Free admission.
