Denim revolution
An indigo and resistant textile, five pockets, orange topstitching matched with metal rivets, a sewn label on the back and a button fly. This is the image we have of jeans, a term that refers both to the Italian fabric whose origin would be linked to the city of Genoa and to the trousers sold in the 19th century by Lévi Strauss in the United States. Protecting the weary knees of gold seekers, jeans take flight, set out to conquer a West in love with the American dream, and then dress up the whole world. Sneaking into our daily lives, it becomes a basic part of our wardrobe, a communication tool that proclaims our identity and a blue page on which creators of yesterday and today express themselves.
The floor of the pool is populated by silhouettes dressed in this fabric subjected to the test of climate, work and the gaze of others.

Révolution denim
Un textile indigo et résistant, cinq poches, des surpiqûres orange assorties à des rivets de métal, une étiquette cousue dans le dos et une braguette boutonnée. Telle est l’image que nous nous faisons du jean, terme désignant aussi bien l’étoffe italienne dont l’origine serait rattachée à la ville de Gênes, que le pantalon vendu dès le XIXe siècle par Lévi Strauss aux États-Unis. Protégeant les genoux fatigués des chercheurs d’or, le jean prend son envol, part à la conquête d’un Occident épris du rêve américain, puis habille le monde entier. Se faufilant dans notre quotidien, il devient un basique de notre garde-robe, un outil de communication qui clame notre identité et une page bleue sur laquelle les créateurs d’hier et d’aujourd’hui s’expriment.
L’étage du bassin se peuple de silhouettes vêtues de ce tissu soumis à l’épreuve du climat, du travail et du regard des autres.

Denim revolutie
Een duurzaam indigo materiaal, vijf zakken, Orange stiksel gecombineerd met metalen klinknagels, een label aan de achterkant en een geknoopte vlieg. Dit is het beeld dat we hebben van jeans, een term voor zowel de Italiaanse stof waarvan de oorsprong zou worden gekoppeld aan de stad Genua, als de broek verkocht al in de 19e eeuw door Lévi Strauss in de Verenigde Staten. Bescherming van de vermoeide knieën van goudzoekers, spijkerbroeken vliegen, veroveren een Westen liefhebber van de Amerikaanse droom, en kleden dan de hele wereld. Sluipen in ons dagelijks leven, het wordt een fundamenteel onderdeel van onze kledingkast, een communicatiemiddel dat onze identiteit claimt en een blauwe pagina waarop de makers van gisteren en vandaag zich uiten.
De vloer van het bassin wordt bevolkt door silhouetten gekleed in deze stof onderworpen aan de test van het klimaat, het werk en de blik van anderen.
