The association Pollen invites you to discover the Manufacture du Châtaignier, an innovative territorial micro-industry project dedicated to the development of local wood.
Ludovic Mallegol and Nicolas Rohart will present the 3D scanning and robotic machining of raw wood, as well as their first applications: local chestnut structures, eco-construction elements and photovoltaic supports.
The visit will be followed by an exchange around the cooperative project and the relocation of the forest-wood sector.
The Manufacture du Châtaignier: when local wood reinvents architecture
What if the forests of our territory became the foundations of tomorrow’s architecture?
In Châtenet-en-Dognon, the Manufacture du Châtaignier gives new life to chestnut thickets thanks to an approach that is as innovative as it is respectful of local resources. Here, each tree is studied in its natural form and then enhanced thanks to digital technologies and robotic manufacturing, to give rise to unique structures: canopies, terraces, carports or even public structures.
On the occasion of Architecture Month, open the doors to this research and production workshop where forestry tradition and innovation meet to imagine a new way of building, more local, more sustainable and resolutely turned towards the future.
*The Month of Architecture in the Pays Monts et Barrages: series of events at various sites in the Pays Monts and Barrage from 09/18 to 10/31. Theme 2026: Reinventing one’s territory. Program available on https://moisdelarchitecture.wixsite.com/montsetbarrages
