In the extension of the ramparts, the castle of Boulogne-sur-Mer is the centerpiece of the fortress built by Count Philippe Hurepel in 1231\. First object of the collection, it is also a gateway to the history of the city. The fortifications of the Roman city, on which the monument rests, are still visible today in the underground. The exhibition «The keys of the castle» invites you to discover the successive lives of this site, in turn, residence of the counts of Boulogne, military barracks, prison and museum since 1988.
