By observing with her the landscape and architecture, you can (re)discover the characteristics of a market garden village, its relationship with water, marsh and vegetation, volumes, materials, colors, and details of its houses, all that contributes to the charm of the market garden life appreciated by both locals and tourists.
It will be an opportunity to perceive the specificities of the village of Vanneau, especially the village-rue de La Belette. This visit is organized by the Marais poitevin Regional Natural Park and by the municipality of Vanneau-Irleau, in partnership with the services of the Buildings of France.

Le Vanneau-Irleau is a commune of plains and marshes in the heart of the Marais poitevin Regional Natural Park, in Deux-Sèvres. The town-center is organized on the «highlands» around the church and in the immediate vicinity of the marsh, especially by its Grand Port. From this port, stretches an emblematic form of village of the marsh, the village-street of La Belette, where the old farms settled in the nineteenth century between the street and the waterway, in an intimate relationship with the wet marsh. Irleau is another village in the municipality where the historic main road is also organized as a village-street in direct contact with the «conches», the waterways of the marsh.
In Vanneau-Irleau, we find a harmony of colors, vegetation, materials and light specific to the Marais poitevin.
The town is part, with 22 other municipalities, of the perimeter of the Marais poitevin labeled Grand Site de France, a label that recognizes a demanding approach to the preservation of fragile lan
