At the heart of the massif of Canigou, on eagle's nest, old(former) abbey Benedictine Saint Martin overhangs the valley discreetly for the XIth century and leaves to discover her unique(only) site with the delighted walker. The bell tower adorned with arcatures, marble capitals(marble big tops), the abbey church and the crypt vaulted make a jewel of the first regional Romanesque art. Restored enthusiastically in the XXth century, the abbey is confided(entrusted) by diocese to the catholic Community of Beatitudes since 1988\.

Accès

Since Perpignan, take N16 until Villefranche de Conflent, then direction(management) Vernet-Les-Bains Casteil. The abbey gains(wins) only on foot since Casteil, after 25 in 50mn of walking(step) in its green setting, leaving to discover its unique(only) site with the delighted walker.
