Before the first millennium, in response to the development of vineyards and population in the region, the monks of the abbey of Gorze founded the oratory and the aître Saint-Hubert. Later, during the late medieval period, the church of Saint-Hubert is fortified. In the 13th century, it became a "hall-church" with a three-aisled nave and a tympanum representing the vision of Saint Hubert. A corbelled turret, located at the northwest corner of the nave, testifies to this period of fortification, while remains of battlements remain on the north terrace.
The 13th century frescoes illustrating the "Credo of the twelve apostles" are rediscovered in the 19th century; although covered with whitewash today, some traces remain visible. In recognition of its historical importance, the church of Saint-Hubert has been listed as a historic monument since 1921.
